Dokeos

The Surface Training Center of STIB (the Brussels urban public transport company) trains 200 tramway drivers and 80 bus drivers a year. Besides vehicle driving skills, the candidates have to learn road signs, company policies and transportation technology. To assess these skills, eliminatory exams are organised.

The existing e-learning device was outdated and STIB was looking for a quick and low cost solution. Thans to Dokeos, the project manager was able to design the testing scenario in 2 months, taking advantage of features like testing automation, individual candidates assessment files, a random question mix.

After six months of use, the managers audit the project positively : the exams are quicker, questions can be added and edited easily, shuffled and re-used. Non-discrimination and confidentialty policies are respected. And the technology allows the organisation of intermediate evaluations, leading to an increased success rate.

In the next six months, the device will be extended to the continued education programme and to other categories of employees : subway drivers and security agents.
