Why the economic crisis boosts Dokeos
Dokeos community continues to grow at a fast pace. In March, we announced 1M users. Two millions users are now registered on our worldwide map as the release of Dokeos 1.8.6 accelerated the spread of the software.
Ohloh independent statistics states, simultaneously, that Dokeos has now overcome both Moodle and Ilias in terms of Codebase, Activity and Contributors.
Three factors explain this rise:
- Enterprises cling to SaaS to ward off crisis;
- according to Gartner, private companies have entrenched their open source strategy to lower costs consequently to the financial crisis and most companies should run open source from 2012 on as their mainstream applications;
- the economic crisis has accelerated the move to e-learning as both a cost saver and a strategic asset for competitivity.
