Development: Dokeos QUIZ GALLERY
Dokeos develops a new tool called Dokeos QUIZ GALLERY to help trainers, authors, professors build quizzes.
We give a first preview of the tool below through a series of 3 screenshots. But let's start by a quick analysis of the quiz authoring problem.
To build a clever an relevant quiz activity for your students, you need to take into account a series of complex and heterogeneous settings summarised in this diagram:
To integrate these settings in a coherent process, there are two methods: analytical or synthetic.
The analytical (or rational) method consists in taking care of these settings one after the other before you start typing the quiz. This method, certainly the most accurate, can be long and tedious. And it asks upfront a series of questions for which we get no answer yet. This can inhibit your creative imagination.
Dokeos QUIZ GALLERY proposes, on the contrary, a synthetic approach by TEMPLATES. When you create a quiz, you can decide to fill empty quiz forms or to draw from a self-explaining quiz templates catalog. Once you find the appropriate template, you adapt it for your quiz and recycle.
Here are the first screenshots of this new interface:
First, I create a quiz (a quiz is a set of questions)

Then, I create a question. Dokeos offers me to choose between simple form or templates gallery

Third, the gallery offers me to select a template, watch it, adapt its content iand integrate in my quiz

This development should be part of Dokeos 2.0 in September 2010.
