Dokeos community celebrates 1M users this month. Created in 2004, Dokeos quickly gained popularity and has become the #1 professional learning suite, serving big companies like Medtronic, Alcon Labs or SGS.

Dokeos 1.8.6 BETA is out. This release addresses the early adopters community only and is not aimed at production.

Dokeos 1.8.6 focusses on the concept of a Personal Learning Environment (PLE):

We are using the Dokeos Tests feature very intensively. For all our classroom trainings we have an e-learning with a prerequisites test. Students are allowed to subscribe to the classroom training only if they have scored a certain minimum on the e-learning prerequisites test. Dokeos development community is reaching cruise speed.

Addressing new markets in Eastern Europe and Latin America led Dokeos to partner with individual programmers and IT companies whose business is based on Dokeos software.

Every two years, the Dokeos community meets to share experience, pedagogical expertise and knowledge practice. On Dec. 4-5, 2008, the Dokeos users days were organized by the University of Geneva.

Discussion focussed on collaborative learning and the Dokeos 2.0 roadmap. Patrick Roth, the organizer of the event, managed to have small group discussions and long breaks for informal discussion.
